I don't mind my husband playing video games, especially when he's playing with his guy friends. I like that he's getting to hang out with other guys and do "guy stuff" instead of having to be in 'father-and-provider' mode all the time. And you have a very valid point - it does buy me time to blog, sew, nap, whatever (provided the kids are already in bed). Sometimes, I even enjoy playing with him - as long as he promises not to kill me in the first 30 seconds of the game :p

The father-son time thing is GENIUS. ha ha ha... oh man, Trev, I am laughing so hard at this article right now.
My favorite thing about watching Tim play his video games?? (and all of you guys, for that matter??) The FACIAL EXPRESSIONS - oh, and the body movements too... grimacing and snorting and squinting... take it outta context and most times it just looks like you guys are doing a really big poo that you need full concentration to do or something. That's the 'glazed-over' thing you were talkin' bout. ha

Right when I started dating jamie, she had to hang up the phone when we were mid-conversation because she was in a game stop buying guitar hero. Read it and weeeeep NOOBS.

Also, my point in writing this is that guitar hero is like karaoke and video games... so i really suggest that for you trevor.

The guitar hero is for the wii, so your wii point really does work.

And i have my system set up in the other room, so when she is apologizing for watching reality shows that make me cringe I say no worries I am gonna go do the thing that I enjoy doing by myself too.

It works.

Several reasons my life is awesome:

1) For the first time in the history of my marriage, Erin (my wife) received as many video games as I did over the Holidays.

2) She upped #1 by actually logging more game time than me since the start of 2010: at least 10 hours per week regularly, vs my paltry 4 hours.

3) Over the past few years (mostly after picking up a Wii), whenever I ask "What do you want to do tonight?", one of her regular responses has become "Wanna play a game?"

Granted, it's to play Wii Sports or Wii Fit about half the time, but the other half is directed to more serious fare (Ghostbusters: the Video Game, PuzzleQuest, LOZ: Twilight Princess, etc.) She has yet to graduate to the more hardcore stuff, but considering she'd probably pwn me if she ever picked up hardcore gaming, maybe that's a good thing.
